Checking the weight of individual products or packs as they move through a production line.
Also called: checkweigher; in-motion weighing; bottle checkweighing.
Can a bottle checkweigher replace direct tablet counting?
It measures mass rather than directly observing pieces. Comparing a moving package with weight criteria is different from counting its contents. Whether the check can resolve a particular count error depends on package and product variation, not the equipment name alone.
A gross-weight result includes whatever is on the scale at that package stage. Bottle, closure and inserted components therefore need to be identified when interpreting the record. The example shows why an unchanged total is not a unique statement of piece count.
Does a good static weight reading prove in-motion performance?
A stationary reading does not establish performance on a moving line. Retain actual line speed, spacing, transfer stability, product motion and environmental disturbances with the dynamic trial.
Ask which package stage is weighed, what weight deviation the system is intended to detect, and how decisions are linked to the affected bottle. Compare known challenge packages under the proposed line condition. A catalogue resolution or throughput figure is not evidence of reliably detecting one missing tablet in that package.
