A blister using an aluminium-based forming laminate and an aluminium foil lid.
Also called: Alu Alu; aluminium aluminium blister; aluminum aluminum blister.
Does Alu-Alu mean two identical sheets of aluminium?
No. The cavity side is an aluminium-based forming laminate, while the lid is a separate closing material. A forming structure can combine nylon, aluminium and a polymer layer; a foil lid can instead combine primer, aluminium and heat-seal material. Their common aluminium component does not make the two constructions identical.
There is no single universal forming-layer recipe. OPA/aluminium/PVC is one construction; other polymer combinations also exist. Specify the forming and lidding grades separately, together with the cavity design and matching seal surfaces.
Alu-Alu can use platen or rotary sealing on a line configured for the material and format. Cold forming creates the pockets; platen and rotary describe the motion of the sealing tools that join the lid.
Check the forming laminate, lid and tooling specification together. Compatibility demonstrated for one construction does not automatically extend to another. Finished-package transmission and integrity require their own measurements.
