Feedback used to check that a commanded rejection has produced the expected physical response.
Also called: reject verification; reject confirmation sensor; rejection failure.
What does a reject-confirmation sensor confirm?
It depends on what the sensor observes. Position feedback can confirm that a reject device reached a specified position within a time window. A sensor at the reject receptacle can instead observe product passage; tracking is then needed to associate it with the intended item.
For a bottle inspection system, identify the feedback point before accepting a “reject confirmed” label. A controller output, mechanism position and bottle entering the reject area describe different events.
Does a reject command prove the bottle was removed?
A command records the requested action. Physical feedback adds evidence about the response, but only for the event actually monitored. Receptacle sensing needs the corresponding product-tracking context to connect passage with the item identified for rejection.
Read reject-system signals according to what they observe
Signal or record
Evidence and limit
Reject command
An action was requested; physical completion is still a separate question.
Actuator-position feedback
The monitored mechanism reached a position; this alone does not show bottle passage.
Product passage into the reject area
An item passed that sensing point; tracking associates it with the intended reject.
Reject-bin-full indication
The monitored bin condition was reached; this is not confirmation of each rejected item.
Missing confirmation vs a missed defect
No. Defect detection concerns the inspection decision; confirmation concerns a later response. A missing confirmation signal does not, by itself, identify whether the original inspection failed, the mechanism failed or the feedback was absent. Those possibilities need distinct evidence.
A trial report should identify the event confirmed, how it was associated with the intended bottle and the response when confirmation was absent. Sensor placement and timing follow the system design.
