Moving powder from a hopper with a rotating screw, either toward capsule bodies or into a capsule filler’s powder-dosing area, depending on the machine.
Also called: screw feeding; auger feeder; powder feed screw.
Does the auger meter each capsule or supply another dosing unit?
Either role can occur. In a ring-based filling arrangement, an auger can feed powder into capsule bodies moving beneath the hopper. In a separate dosing arrangement, an auger can replenish a powder bed ahead of the dose-forming mechanism, optionally under level feedback.

Question to clarify
Feed into moving capsule bodies
How do feed and capsule exposure interact in this machine?
Feed into a dosing area
Which downstream mechanism forms the individual dose?
Level-controlled replenishment
Which level signal controls the screw, and what is separately weighed?
Can the same auger rpm guarantee the same fill weight?
No. In a ring-based arrangement, auger speed and turntable speed can both affect filling. In a bed-replenishment arrangement, screw speed regulates powder supply rather than measuring capsule contents. The same rpm therefore does not establish the same net fill weight across arrangements or powders.
For a supplier comparison, retain the screw’s function, the associated movement or downstream dosing unit, the powder and the measured result. A controller speed value is useful context; it does not replace a mass result or establish a universal rpm-to-milligram conversion.
