Interchangeable machine parts used for a particular product size or package format.
Also called: change parts; size parts; changeover tooling.
Format parts and maintenance spares
Format parts adapt a machine to a product or package geometry; spares are held for maintenance replacement. These purposes can overlap. Capsule segments, dosing formats and blister tooling are examples of format-dependent parts, but not every wear component changes with every format.
Tie a proposed set to the machine and drawing revision, the capsule or product dimensions, and the delivered package layout. A capsule-size label alone does not describe every dosing component, and a pocket count alone does not describe blister geometry. Ask the supplier to identify the parts needed for each quoted format rather than treating “one extra format” as a complete inventory.
Possibly, depending on the machine. A dosing arrangement may change quantity through controlled motion while retaining the same disc, whereas other changes require exchanged components. Do not assume either a wholly new set for every change or universal tooling interchangeability.
Separate common components, exchanged parts and setting-only changes in the format list. Also separate mechanical fit from demonstrated performance with the intended product and web material. A complete list helps procurement compare what is included, while a relevant trial addresses what the assembled format can actually do.
