Optical input changes and electrical response delay
It measures the interval from an optical input change to the corresponding electrical output change. Identify the input transition, output mode and whether the value is typical or a maximum. Operating and reset delays need not be equal.
For a through-beam application, separate the arrival and clearance of the product from the output transitions that follow them. The duration of a beam interruption is an input interval, not the delay required for the output to respond. A timed output extension is another function and should be named separately.
Can response time be converted directly to tablets per second?
The reciprocal of one response-time value is not a supported counting-line capacity. Consider both the time occupied by each product and the clear interval between products, then the receiving input or controller. A short gap can be restrictive even when the average arrival rate appears slow.
Assess the full timing path: sensor output, any pulse shaping, input interface and counting logic. Then compare count results for the intended product stream. A bare sensor specification excludes later controller and gate behaviour.
